The Truth is in the Techniques

Team Work makes the dream work

I am very happy and pleased to say the past few tournaments my students have participated in have all been positive experiences.  From the wins and the loses.  They all proved that the work you put in leads to success.  Competition is an excellent measurement of how the team is progressing.  We all help each other and try to push one another to achieve personal goals.  If you started with me and wanted to lose weight or become fit, it all was just a matter of time.  BJJ is a martial art that builds life long bonds and helps everyone achieve goals they have set.  The increase in motivation can be felt daily at our Dojo and that is a key factor in building a great team.

TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND!!

On Saturday June 16th, Two of my students will participate at the Kasai Grappling tournament and will put their best effort to compete and explore their own potential and try to go past their limitations. I am always proud to see them step on the mats and test their skills and show that all their hard work has improved their lives. Competition is an important part of BJJ and it should be taken in as a fun learning experience with great rewards. If you win, then the next goal is to improve. If you lose then the next goal is to improve. The journey that is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is infinite and will never. White Belt Brent Simon and Purple belt Armando Coyotyl will be competing. Luck is not a factor. It will simply be skill meeting opportunity. OSSS!!

Hard Work & Determination

So knowing that two of my very hard working students were going to compete always tends to excite me as if I were going to compete. A sense of pride rushes over me even before they step on the mats. A feeling that they are proud to represent my name while they test their merit fills my heart. The outcomes of their competition was one of mixed emotions. One student battled his heart out to win third place with a very convincing victory in his first match. My second student was unable to compete as he had no one in his category and in his second attempt to compete in the open weight division. The other only other competitor decided to not fight. So now we refocus and look ahead to the next competition. Enigma Brazilian Jiu Jitsu NY continues to prove itself as a legit school. I hope to have more students compete in the next tournament. That is a very attainable goal.
